A pair of 6000 Series cars was fitted with non-carpeted floors, in an attempt to test materials other than carpet to use for Metrorail flooring. Other 6000 Series cars have had metal straps added to the bars that run down the center of the car to help shorter passengers have a place to hold on to within better reach.
