While Florida is known for its warm climate, sandy beaches, Disney World, Cape Canaveral, and the home for most of Major League Baseball's spring training camps, it also has a large number of transit properties. The webmaster of this website rode one and saw the operations of a second.

Most vacations will involve public transit of some sort. Just by visiting Disney World, you have one. Disney World sports a monorail connecting two of its theme parks to each other by way of a parking lot and three guest resorts. There is also a large number of buses interconnecting the various attractions.

Not too far away is the Orlando Bus system, called LYNX. LYNX runs a fleet of Gillig Phantoms and Orion Vs. These buses can be sighted at Orlando International Airport and at the Walt Disney World Transportation and Ticketing Center, as well as in Orlando itself.

Miami has two things of note. The first is the Metro, an above ground heavy rail system. The rolling stock resembles that of the Baltimore Metro Subway. There is also a monorail called Metromover in the downtown area.

Lastly, Tri-Rail, a commuter rail line, runs between West Palm Beach and Miami. A one way trip takes two hours. Tri-Rail connects with shuttle buses at certain stations to transport people closer to their desitnations.
