The Swiss national rail system is also known for its efficiency. Because Switzerland is situated between France, Italy, and Germany, most of the high speed trains in Switzerland come from these other countries; Switzerland has no high speed train of its own. Switzerland owns three TGV sets that are used on TGV Lyria services, and the ICE operates on both Germany-Switzerland runs, and also some scheduled intra-Switzerland runs for scheduling purposes. Finally, overnight trains from Paris to Italy pass through Switzerland during the overnight hours, and due to the country's central location, many freight trains pass through the country at all hours of the day.
